Something New

This blog has been my companion for the past six years. Wow, I can't believe it has been that long. For the past months, I have not found the words to write here.

I think that has mainly been because over the past 18 months or so, Troy and I have been processing what God has next for us. We'd had a sense that it is time for something new. It has been a long process, full of talking, prayer, struggles, and also peace.

In June, our family will leave Spain after 12 years. Spain is the only country that our kids know as their home, so it's going to be a big change. But we hope, trust, believe that it will be good in many many ways.

We plan on settling in Chicago; there are still many details that we need to sort out. We're not sure yet what we'll be doing, but God knows, so we are OK with waiting for His timing in making all things happen.

Here is what we shared at church last night:

For the past twelve years, we have had the great privilege of serving with Christian Associates in 3 different church plants in Spain. Over the past 18 months, our family has been in process with trusted advisers and friends about what God is calling us to next, and we believe that is to move back to the US this coming June.
We feel clearly that God has brought us to the end of our ministry season in Europe. Our plan is to relocate to the Chicago area. We look forward to this positive change and its impact on our family (both immediate and extended), our finances, and our desire to continue living missionally in our own culture.

You can guess we’ve put a lot of thought into what we can do to ensure Oasis is successful with continuing ministry. Rest assured, with an elder board in place and some new CA-staffers phasing in, we feel confident that we’re leaving Oasis in good hands.

Please pray with us as we continue to seek God’s plan for what we should do next (one possibility is a different role within CA) and “stay tuned” because we are surely going to need your support and encouragement along the way!

Thanks to those of you that have been tracking with us during our Europe-based journey. We’ve appreciated your love and friendship so much these many years.

I have started a new blog, so if you are interested in joining me on this journey, you can find me here: www.heatherbetween.blogspot.com

I won't be deleting this blog, but I won't be writing here anymore. Thanks for reading!
